Managing Partner Roger Payne, a healthcare consultant with more than 30 years of healthcare leadership experience, was first approached by a client seeking an interim CEO for a hospital in 2001. One assignment led to another, and Mr. Payne formally established Leaders For Today a year later to focus exclusively on providing interim healthcare management recruitment services.

The model has proved enormously successful and has evolved according to the changing industry and marketplace as well as a result of the demands and needs of our clients.  The company has experienced significant year over year growth both in strong and challenging economies.  As a result of multiple and ongoing requests by the clients we serve, a direct hire (permanent placement) division was launched in 2008. With a very robust database of some 40,000 healthcare professionals and a very strong industry network, that effort has resulted in an immediate success.

As a result of the longer length of the executive search process, our clients realized the value of utilizing our interim services. Multiple goals can be achieved within the context of an interim assignment; smooth running of the daily operation while the permanent search is underway, the coaching and mentoring or more junior level managers and leaders, providing leadership during very challenging periods or crisis and the initiation of organizational changes by a leader who does not have a political agenda.
