St. Joseph Hospital, a 112-bed acute care community hospital located in Bangor, Maine, is seeking a Director of CPCU (Cardio-Pulmonary Care Unit) to assume responsibility for the coordination of clinical services for the Critical Care Unit, IV Team, Nursing Supervisors, and Cardiology Department.

The Director of CPCU will be an experienced leader who has extensive background in acute/cardiac care. The Director will collaborate with the Vice President for Patient Care Services in planning, evaluating, and developing nursing activities on an ongoing basis to insure patient care needs will be met. Special attention will be focused on managing staffing levels/turnover/professional development, as well as establishing systems to assess the processes, work flow and efficiencies of the assigned clinical focus areas.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, BSN preferred.
  • Five years of acute care experience, preferably in a cardiac area.
  • Three to five years of management experience.
  • Active State of Maine RN license.
  • BLS required; ACLS required (or must complete within 6 months).
  • Demonstrated ability to place customer/patient needs first, and ensure systems are in place to provide safe, high-quality, efficient patient care.
  • Ability to adjust to changes in the workplace, and a willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading teams during/through periods of change.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, willingness to collaborate to build strong relationships with all individuals.
