A regional, 180-bed medical center and inpatient teaching facility in New York state is seeking a Nurse Manager, Intensive Care Unit to provide round-the-clock responsibility and accountability for delivery of patient care within a full-service, mixed Intensive Care Unit (includes medical, surgical, neurological, etc.). The Nurse Manager will provide leadership development, training and mentoring for two Assistant Nurse Managers, a Nurse Educator, and a staff consisting of both newly credentialed and seasoned nurses. The Nurse Manager will also be available to ‘jump in’ to provide hands-on clinical care as needed, so recent clinical care experience and knowledge of best practices will be important.

Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, collaboration with organizational leadership in support of the annual operating plan, hiring and retention of personnel, performance improvement activities, and participation on management team and other committees as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing; must be on track to graduate from an accredited Bachelor’s of Nursing Degree program within one year of holding position (Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years professional healthcare experience with 2 years in a supervisory position with progressive management responsibilities.
  • Recent experience with and knowledge of hands-on critical care best practices; experience with cardiac surgery.
  • Experience with shared governance.
  • NYS Licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Ability and willingness to work at least one weekend shift per month.
